Bitcoin Users: Who They Are and What They Do?

testing battle ground

/beermoney is a community for people to discuss **online** money-making opportunities. You shouldn't expect to make a living, but it's possible to make extra cash on the side for your habits/needs.

Does anyone know if a particular demographic of bitcoin users was targeted with the recent IRS communications?

Like, those who've traded/gained/currently have sitting more than $20,000 in coinbase? I'm below that number but I moved recently and suspect I have been losing many of my mails - wouldn't want to miss something like this in case they're sending it to everyone who has ever traded any bitcoin at all.
Edit: I've seen the general articles on this, know that the media reports speculate about this being related to the IRS diktat last year that coinbase should reveal data on 13,000 users with more than $20,000 between 2013-2015. I guess I'm specifically asking whether anyone with smallish balances also got an unexpected letter. Did anyone who has traded less than 20k get a letter?
Potentially useful question to the community that I've not seen answered convincingly elsewhere and the response is downvotes and indifference. Sad. Let's go back to memes. To the mooooooooon!

Is there information regarding the demographic of bitcoin users?

I am currently working on a school project regarding bitcoin, and I'm curious about who actually uses bitcoin. Any information about this would help. Thanks in advance!

Streamium has the potential to be ridiculously disruptive and profitable, on a level most haven't discussed

The only project I find myself evangelizing more than ones I am directly involved with is Streamium and I think that's because of my familiarity and knowledge of the PPV business. I wanted to share some of this here so others can be clued in to something that I think a lot are missing.
I should also add that I am not paid anything by Streamium, they are friends but I have no financial interest in this whatsoever.
The PPV industry has been around since the mid 1980s and since then, very little has changed in terms of payouts and the cost/difficulty of even getting on traditional PPV. Since that era the dominant content found on PPV have been adult movies (although this is dwindling) and live combat sports events like wrestling, boxing and more recently UFC. There have been many misguided statements claiming "PPV is dead" for the past 10 years which is very far from the truth, especially considering Floyd vs. Manny did 4.4 million PPV buys at $99.99 a pop.
Cable and Satellite companies take about 50% (actually 45% for the cable system and 10% for the distributor, but I will use 50% for ease) of the revenue generated by any single program that they choose to distribute. This gigantic percentage has been something content providers have tried to negotiate down through the entire history of PPV, to absolutely no avail. The average UFC show does 260,000 buys at $49.99/$59.99 a pop. Assuming a 75/25 split of HD buys to SD buys, the average monthly UFC show grosses roughly $14,950,000 ($11,700,000 + $3,250,000), of which about $7,475,000 goes to the Cable or Satellite company.
PPV has been a cash cow for Cable providers that has gone without any competition for decades. Content providers were optimistic this would reduce the distributors cut, but in general it hasn't for a few reasons. UStream's entrance into iPPV had them taking between 15% and 20%, unfortunately the costs of providing support was prohibitive and they decided to exit the iPPV business. One popular option is Go Fight Live (GFL) who have focused on events too small to be distributed on Cable systems. GFL has had some success but retain the 50% cut, and the technical/personnel issues still remain.
It's now 2015 and WWE has pretty much exited the PPV business with the launch of the WWE Network, boxing still is on PPV but the shows with massive buys are very few and far between and UFC still remains very successful on PPV and has even launched FightPass to supplement traditional PPV revenue. Add to this eSports which is consistently growing and live concerts, the opportunity that Streamium has is ridiculous.
The biggest issue facing Streamium is user & creator familiarity with cryptocurrency. Thankfully the demographic of combat sports matches closely with the demographic of bitcoin users and the very low cost of entry for Streamium makes it ideal for small and mid-level promotions that are looking for an additional revenue stream.
I'm already using my contacts and relationships within entertainment to evangelize and promote Streamium, it's too soon to report on any of the results but I am hoping I can get the right people convinced to demonstrate the viability of this.
Manuel of Streamium is not only someone I worked with and respect a lot, but he's a friend and I'm more than happy to help him and this truly great project out. I have plenty of other friends who have projects that I dig and support, but Streamium is truthfully on another level. Cable companies are already despised and I'm hoping that their history of taking advantage of PPV content creators will help Streamium to destroy their monopoly.
Edit: We recently did a podcast with Manuel Araoz from Streamium on the DECENTRALIZE podcast at decentralize.fm. Click here for a direct link to the show.

2058: How a Death Oracle Will Manage Your Money

The year is 2058 and I am dead. I croaked during a time travel simulation. So it goes.
In the future, bitcoin and cryptocurrency look drastically different than 2018, but it is a part of everyone’s portfolio as we increasingly move away from physical cash. The future is where our death oracle comes to life. First, what is an oracle? An oracle is a server that operates outside of the blockchain that can be questioned for data, varying from “Did the Packers win the superbowl?”, to “Is John Smith Dead?”.
As the primary demographic of bitcoin users grow older so does the need for inclusion of cryptocurrency in wills. Practical and simple solutions exist today for transfer, such as a paper wallet inside of a safe deposit but require banks and third party intervention.
Generally speaking, oracles have a long way to go before their input on a blockchain can be trusted so until then, avoid prolonged exposure to virtual reality.

Updated list of Global Beermoney opportunities (+180!) - June 2020

Updated list of Global Beermoney opportunities (+180!) - June 2020

Introduction

The current, and now previous, Beermoney Global list started nearly 5 years ago. It’s been updated and has grown over all that time, but it also became a hassle to keep current. It was time to build a new list from scratch based on my experience in the Beermoney world over all these years and all the contributions all of you have been making in this sub.
The lists consist of opportunities that are available in at least one country that is not the US. This means there are sites which only work in Canada or the UK. There’s sites which are open to the whole world, but this does not mean everyone can really earn something on it. It’s all still very demographic and therefore location dependent. This list should give you a starting point to try out and find what works for you. I’m not using everything myself as I prefer to focus on a few, so not all are tested by me. They are found in this sub, other subreddits and other resources where people claim to have success.
I’ve chosen the format of a simple table with the bare minimum of information to keep things clean. It includes a link, how you earn, personal payment proof if available and sign-up bonus codes if applicable. Some of these bonuses are also one-time use codes specifically made for this sub! For the ones I don’t have payment proof (yet) feel free to provide some as a comment or via modmail so others know it’s legit. I am working on detailed instructions for each method that I personally use which will include things like cashout minimum, cashout options, tips & tricks,... For now I’ve split things up based on the type of earning like passive or mobile. Because of this there’s sometimes an overlap as some are both passive and on mobile or both earning crypto and a GPT (Get Paid To) website.
The lists are obviously not complete so I invite you to keep posting new ones in the sub, as a comment to this post, or in modmail. Especially if you have sites or apps which work for one single specific country I can start building a list, just like I did for The Netherlands and Belgium. If you recognize things which are in fact scams or not worth it let me know as well.

The Netherlands specific
For The Netherlands there are a few very good options next to a bunch of ‘spaarprogramma’s. There ‘spaarprogramma’s are all the same where you receive and click a bunch of e-mails, advertisements, banners,... I advise you to create a separate e-mail address or use a good filter in your inbox as you will be spammed to death. I believe they can be a nice piece of beermoney but they take quite the effort.

[For Hire] Marketing and SEO

My name is Zack Frederick and I started doing marketing several years ago as i began my first yoga ‘e-business', realising very quickly that the difference between me and the next John Doe wasn’t the product but the presentation. So I set about, by trial and error, learning how I could sell more Yoga mats than John Doe. It wasn’t long before I realised I was very good at the marketing aspect, and I didn’t really like things like warehousing and distribution.
Today I’m most interested in building reports, designing paid campaigns and helping with Instagram.
I’ve compiled a few free tips for general marketing and SEO.

Brand awareness

First off. Influencers will not magically make your website successful. You have to be your own influencer. Over my tenor, I have spent thousands on social media analysis, rebranding and learning tricks like sticking state names across American products or even changing the colour of my website depending on the demographics of my audience. Spoilers, guys love red. Here’s an example data set. https://imgur.com/gallery/7OHIx
Last year, I ran a campaign for one of my shoe clients, and we used the pride of state consumers to grow his shoe business. I researched the best colours to use for different states and gave him a list, we put the state names across his shoes and marketed directly to them through instagram. It wasn’t long before his conversion metrics were soaring.
Here's an example report from one of my clients - https://prnt.sc/iisqv8

Value

I have worked with a lot of musicians, a big part of them started with low view, audio-only videos. I learnt quickly that for them to achieve success they had to provide value, so i told them to create videos. They did and then ta-da, they had 4500 views when they only had 200 view music videos before. For the next step, I even got them contacts with massive digital celebrities. My proudest connection having been ‘Ninja’ during the height of his fortnite campaign, I organised the marketing behind several viral Fortnite music parodies with now millions of views.

Trend riding

Make use of trends in your business. If something is so mainstream and big, why ignore it? In the past I have made use of the political trends in the American election with trump AND hillary brands on some of my clients products, with the pro trump and pro hillary supporters wanting to sport their political beliefs no matter the cost.
I see a lot of website based businesses underuse social media with broad attempts at Facebook ads and Instagram ads, ill go to digital marketing agencies and see they either have no social following or a huge botted one. It's a terrible idea to buy followers, if you want to cut corners then you should look at buying a smaller business with a bigger social following.
Here’s the impressions from a tweet I made on the first day of creating a company a twitter platform and using trend riding and collaboration to grow it https://prnt.sc/huziu6 4K Impressions on one tweet in 15 minutes - we hit 80k impressions in the first day. I did this from simply mimiking the formula for success from a similiar company account, i don't want to try change the magic formula for success.

Direction

Adapt

You really do have to stay in touch with your business to know what's working and what isn't, companies like Toys R Us refused to do that and stuck with huge stockpiles of star wars toys and then they collapsed. Blockbusters where ahead of the curve for digital movies and then they refused to change, Netflix changed and Netflix won. Amazon learnt to use online selling and left companies like Tescos with financial crisis.
The big boom in marketing that I’ve seen is social media marketing, marketers can create huge social following for companies and use that platform to sell content for extremely low costs in comparison to the tens of thousands it costs to use other platforms such as radio. Social media marketing has become somewhat controversial, but it is important to always stay open minded.

Collaboration** & Viral content

I can not stress the importance of working with other people. Every billionaire i know of has had a mentor, every big company success story had business partners. I've had far more success in clients who have listened to me and done collaborative work with digital celebs, with a dog product business making thousands of sales when they worked with vlogger Zoella and gave her free products.
Viral content is very important because every Youtuber with over 1 million subscribers has started off big and managed to keep it big, nobody grinded and slowly rose up at an equal exponent. Hard work is fine but being consistent and mixing it up, copying the viral content of others is an easy way of bringing in secondary viewership and traffic. Pewdiepie, the biggest youtuber on the planet, started with viral horror content. Ninja, the biggest streamer, grinded for 7 years but only truly struck gold with the virality of Fortnite. So it makes sense to repeat their methods.

Key words

It is an obvious thing to say but it's neglected, key words are very important. I had a crypto business come to me and ask why their site wasnt doing very well, and i looked through it and saw they never mentioned anything beyond bitcoin. Bitcoin is a very expensive key word to market, with costs of the raw word being as high as 38$ per click. I had to bring them down to earth with harsh truths, i rewrote their entire site using SEM tools in mind - with key words and phrases like "Altcoin exchange" and using the names of the top 100 altcoins across the site.

SEO

Search Engine Optimisation is the name given to increasing the value and raw volume of your organic traffic. A successful website always wants as many of the most likely consumer base to encounter their product because that’s the hardest point of digital business. Your websites SEO is determined by crawlers which regularly check up on your website and update their index which is later used by an algorithm to order results when someone ‘googles’ something.
Today I’m going to be talking you through some key points about SEO that I personally audit for businesses.

Domains

Https://Www.Example.Com is an example of something we call a ‘root domain’ which is made up of protocol (https://) subdomain (www.) domain name (example) and top-level domain (.com). These are the basic parts. It’s important that the protocol is the best and safest it can be or else google will punish you. It’s also important your domain name and top-level domain are appropriate and readable. The words used in your subdomain can also affect how customers interpret your website, websites can be named after their market base for easy marketing. In addition, the age and previous registrations of your domain matter. It’s important these factors are appropriately considered in your website. Be minimal with subdomains.

Targeting

Google knows where it’s users are and what they’re using from their browser data, IPs and MACs and then matches them with websites in their areas or appropriate to searches. Ever since the infamous 2016 update ‘Possum’ it is not something you can ignore. Even jobs based websites had to use the meta data ‘Jobs Schema’ (from 2017 onwards) to tell google where your website was focused. Location specific landing pages matter. You have to pay credence to DNS (domain name server) and Glue to keep TTL (time to load) and mobile in mind, especially with more mobile users than ever. CMS (customs) is also part of this discussion: themes and plugins are a factor in Google’s ranking. One way to improve TTL is through CDN’s and we have to consider how we approach them to rank better. Sometimes, you might face penalties and there are ways to know; that’s a little too hard to explain here but PM me for more.

Content

Nobody loves a book more than google. Robots will read all your website, even the stuff humans don’t bother with. Things like duplication will annoy Google who doesn’t like reading things twice. CTA’s (buttons basically) have to go somewhere nice and if they don’t work properly google will punish you. Human biases are important too. The user experience will effect their retention and Google will clock that. There’s also lots of minor things that can stack up: Filenames (help you rank on Images) Thin content (Google sees it as lazy) phrase diversity (spamming key words is noticed) and URL structures too! Make sure your in and outbound links are healthy as well as having keyword mapping where you assign the correct words to the right pages. Make sure your anchor texts (viewable when linking) are descriptive yet succinct. And finally: link velocity, a healthy eco system of link building is important to longevity and renewed SEO.

Technical Stuff.

Consistent anchor elements are important to prevent 404s. Don’t use abbreviations with naming files and folders. Limit use of dates for file folder names. Your site architecture has to be simple and close to the root domain so the click depth isn’t too great! Links to and from your site can’t be dead ends, and use breadcrumbs! Be wary of canonical issues from similar content across multiple URLs. Treat Cookies and Session IDs properly, privacy laws are ever changed and mismatching them can be dangerous. There’s lots more to go into like header status codes, site maps, GSC Crawl Errors but Reddit has a text limit so I’ve deleted some of my post.

PM me if interested in my services or with questions.

Beermoney for Busy People 2020 (No DQ's!)

Beermoney for Busy People! (2020)

Hi! Last year I made a couple posts about sites that don't have DQs and are worth your time to use even if you have a busy life! I am a full-time student and work while in school so I don't always have time to grind out surveys for hours at a time. To qualify for this list, the sites can't DQ and have to be worth your time to use! Hope these help! Let's get into it.

Zogo iOS | Android | Invite Code: 88W6A

Zogo is an iOS and Android app that pays you to learn about personal finance. It is backed by a variety of established banks and is actually quite interesting to learn through. The app is designed to take you in a linear path through a variety of different financial topics. These topics range from budgeting and credit, to investing and insurance. The topics start off relatively simple, and get more complex as you move through the modules. Each topic has a set of flashcards for you to read and study. After reading these flashcards, you take a short quiz with about 5 multiple choice questions about the topic. Most of these questions seemed fairly easy to me and I didn't really need to spend time reading the flash cards to get the questions correct. You have a set of 5 hearts, and for every question you get wrong you lose one. Once you lose all 5 hearts you have to wait until they regenerate to continue answering questions. You can cash out for a wide variety of gift cards such as Amazon and Target at $5. I believe you need an invite code to register so I have provided mine above.

CrowdTap

CrowdTap is a great site for short polls and surveys that is available online and in a new mobile app on iOS and Android! The questions are about things such as consumer goods, food products, and services. The polls pay 1.5 cents each and the short answer questions pay 10 cents each (converted from their points system). Some of these polls are combined into longer surveys, and some are single one question polls. All of them are well worth it for the time that they take and there are no DQ’s of any sort. Reward options include Amazon, Target, Walmart, Steam, Xbox, and more. You can cash out starting at $5 and I am able to cash out about once a week. Make sure to give quality answers and look out for attention checks because people have been banned for not giving quality answers. Definitely add this one to your routine if you have not yet.

PaidViewpoint (Non-Ref) (Referral)

This is a site with short surveys and no DQ’s. There are short surveys (10ish questions) to collect demographic data that pay $0.10. As you do these, your trait score increases. Having a high trait score makes it more likely to get high paying surveys. You have to be patient, and you might go weeks without a survey, but once you get to max trait score it is definitely worth it. I have a max trait score and I get at least one survey (if not more) per day. The real surveys that aren’t just for demographics can pay upwards of $2. You can cash out at $15 via PayPal, Amazon, or Walmart. Just as some inspiration to stick with it, after hitting max traitscore I am on track to make $150 on here this year!

PartTimeClicks

This site pays you to complete short tasks. These tasks mostly involve searching a certain phrase in Google and copy and pasting the results. These tasks pay $0.25-$0.30 and take about a minute. You can also go into the settings and opt into receiving review tasks. These require you leaving a review on a site that it tells you to. I haven’t gotten one of these yet but they pay much better than the normal tasks. I make about $2 a week here in 1-2 minutes a day. You can turn on text alerts for new tasks in the settings which would help increase your earnings.

Pinecone Research

Pinecone is a great survey site with surveys about consumer products and food that don’t DQ and pay $3 per 10ish minute survey. I get an average of one a week. They also sometimes send you samples of the products to review and I have gotten several of these this year! The catch is that you have to find an invite to join the panel. These can be found on offers or banner ads on GPT sites so keep an eye out for one! It is well worth your time to sign up. You can cash out for PayPal and many gift cards at a $5 minimum.

PollPass

PollPass kinda reminds me of CrowdTap. You answer short polls to earn points. They aren’t always available, but seem to pop up almost once a day in batches of 10-20 questions. I seem to get 1 cent per question but that’s not too bad because it’s basically one click per question. They recently reduced the cash out minimum and you can now cash out at $3.00 (3000 points) for Amazon and PayPal!

Prolific

This one is great. You take academic surveys for universities and researchers and get paid in cash. I have been getting tons of surveys on here right now about Covid-19. As long as you don’t miss attention checks you won’t ever get disqualified. Some people get multiple surveys a day and others get only a few a week based on demographics. Usually it slows down in the summer because school isn’t in session, but they’ve had a lot of surveys available this summer. Many surveys pay at least minimum wage. Pro tip, if you every have a problem with a survey or miss an attention check that you noticed, try contacting the researcher and often they can fix the problem for you. You can cash out with PayPal with no fees (for U.S. users).

YouGov

YouGov is a survey site/app that pays anywhere from $0.50 to $2 per survey. You never disqualify. I get a couple surveys a week. Most of the surveys are about public policy, politics, or general opinions of companies. You get the best value for your points if you save up for the $100 cash out. They offer the $100 cash out in bank transfer and Amazon. The Amazon gift card option used to be a physical mailed card but now its an e-gift card so that makes it even better! They offer other gift cards but they are for smaller values at worse rates so I would avoid them. Available online, on android, and on iOS.

E-Poll Surveys (Non-Ref) (Referral)

E-poll is a survey site with surveys that don’t DQ. They send you surveys via email when they are available. The surveys are often about pop culture, TV shows, and celebrities. Some of them pay better than others for the time it takes to complete them, but most are well worth your time. Make sure to complete the surveys soon after you get the email, because some fill up within a day or so. You can cash out for several gift card options including Amazon and Starbucks. You get better rates with the higher valued gift cards so I always save up for the highest ones.

Be Forthright

Forthright is a survey site with a nice twist. You sign up and receive invitations to surveys via email. I don’t usually do their “partner surveys” because they often DQ and you can get stuck in an endless loop, which doesn’t really fit with the point of this post.. Their non-partner surveys are awesome. They pay well for the time spent but they also have one of the best disqualification bonuses I have ever seen. Every three surveys you take, regardless of whether you disqualify or not, you get a $2 bonus. That is $0.66 per survey on top of its base pay regardless of whether you qualify or not. The base pay for the surveys ranges from $1-3 depending on length, which varies from 10-30 mins. They usually take much less time than the estimated length. I get a non-partner survey about once every 1-2 weeks and made around $50 here last year with minimum time spent. They pay instantly with PayPal, Amazon, or Bitcoin with no minimum.

Perksy

Perksy is an app that sends you short surveys that they call “stacks”. These surveys generally pay anywhere from $0.30 to $1.00 and I get about one a week. You can’t DQ from these and they only take a minute or two. The minimum cashout is pretty high at $25 but when you sign up you get a signup bonus that gets you pretty close to your first cashout. I am able to cash out about once a year. They offer a lot of different gift cards but the most notable ones are Amazon and Target.

Google Opinion Rewards (Android) (iOS)

This one is quite popular and most of you have probably heard of it. This app is run by Google that will send you short surveys. If you have the app on iOS you can cash out to PayPal at $2, but on Android you can only cash out to Google Play balance. People who travel a lot or use a lot of Google services may get more surveys than others. I make $10ish dollars a year on here but I’ve seen others make more.

OnePulse (Android) (iOS)

This is one of my favorites. The app will send you “Pulses” that you can answer for cash. The surveys start out paying around $0.25 each but as you level up your account they pay more. Mine currently pay $0.34. They have non-paid pulses that can level up your account but those aren’t really worth doing. The minimum cash out is $5 via PayPal. I have made about $10 here just in the last week due to pulses about Covid-19.

SurveyMonkeyRewards (Android) (iOS)

This is an app that is owned by SurveyMonkey, the popular survey development company. It offers short surveys that pay anywhere from $0.25 to $0.50 depending on length. The surveys take no longer than 3-5 minutes. They technically can DQ, but this happens very rarely and only at the very beginning of a survey. The nice thing about the surveys is that they use SurveyMonkey's survey software so they are consistent and easy to complete. While they do send notifications, earnings on here depend on how often you check the app because they don't always notify you. I try to check the app at least once or twice a day. You can cash out at $5 for Amazon with instant payments.

SurveyMini (Android) (iOS)

SurveyMini is a little different. The app sends you surveys when you visit different stores to review your experience there. They ask you about your satisfaction with the store, what areas you bought from, etc. The surveys usually pay $0.10 and take about a minute, but some can randomly pay up to $0.75. The more you visit stores, the more surveys you will get. You can cash out at $10 but you get slightly better rates the more you save up. They offer e-gift cards such as iTunes, Xbox, and Visa, but sadly no Amazon. I am on pace to cash out for $25 twice this year.

Eureka

Eureka is an app that is similar to Perksy and OnePulse. The app sends you notifications when a new survey is available. The surveys are short and usually only 2-3 questions, and pay $0.15. The cool thing about Eureka is that they reward thoughtful answers. The person who submits the best answer gets a bonus that varies anywhere from $5-$45! Once you hit $10, you can cash out for Amazon or Paypal. They also have survey router surveys but I don't really do those. Unfortunately it appears to be iOS only at the moment.

Thanks for reading! Hope these beermoney sites/apps help you make better use of your beermoney earning time! Let me know if there are any sites that I didn't include that would fall into those category. Give my profile a follow for more beermoney related posts in the future! If you want to read more of my posts, here's one of my favorites to get you started!
Have a great rest of your week :)

IMPORTANT: Opsec Scam attempt

I received this e-mail four hours ago. I'm not sure if this is a normal occurrence or how concerned I should be. Since he mentioned Opsec I wanted to post this here as it pertains to all of you.
I'm assuming he reached out to be since I am new member. If this is unimportant the mods can delete it. If someone can let me know what sort of scam this is or why they do it in this manner I would appreciate it. I just wanted to let everyone know and potentially warn newer members.
Stay Safe.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Hello Kayson_Andrea!
I'm conducting research on a specific privacy tool and I would like to invite you to a 10 to 15 mins interview to get your opinion about it - in exchange I can offer 50 USD.
In the spirit of transparency and doing my best to protect your privacy: 1. I found you by searching for active users on opsec - that's all I know about you. 2. I would prefer doing the interview with video, but if you object to that we can do audio only through Jitsi meet (best for privacy imo), Whereby or Zoom. 3. I won't ask any personal or demographic questions from you, just specific ones about a software 4. I will only need a Bitcoin or Paypal address to send through the money within 24hs after we conduct the call 5. During the interview I'll reveal my name and the group I'm part of to provide assurance that the payment will be made -- if I'd tell now that might affect the research, but not a big corp or Google et al :) 6. I'm available almost any time on weekdays between 9am and 1pm EDT, but I'm flexible in finding a suitable slot...
Let me know if you are in - or if you have any questions.
Thank you for your time!
JohnnyBurnaway

*I have read the rules.

AgainstHateSubreddits FAQ - Answers to Frequently Asked Questions, both sincere and disingenuous.

What is /AgainstHateSubreddits?

The purpose of this community is to draw attention to - and elicit meaningful action upon - instances of the growing problem of radicalization on Reddit.

We call for moderators and admins to take responsibility for their roles in the meme-ification & normalization of:

• bigotry

• hate

• harassment

&

• violence

"Hate Subreddit" is defined here in AHS as:
Reddit communities that exist primarily and materially for the purpose of incitement to hatred --
hatred against a group of persons, or a specific person, on the basis of:
• race • ethnicity • national origin • gender • religion • sexual orientation • other inherent characteristics.
Hate subreddits regularly show disdain for human rights and emotions, the results of academic research, and, of course, basic human decency.

What does /AgainstHateSubreddits DO?

"In a racist society, it is not enough to be non-racist, we must be antiracist.” — Angela Davis

• We organise resources for moderators to help them be educated about hatred and harassment - how to identify and combat it.

• We organise a community to :

• Identify subreddits which host or promote cultures of hatred

&

• Report items (posts / comments) in those subreddits which violate the Reddit Content Policies. Hate speech is a violation of the Reddit Content Policy against Harassment.

• Act in Good Faith - We take /AgainstHateSubreddits' mission seriously, and you should, too.

Irony poisons sincerity, and bigots rely on tiring people out by making them wonder "is this person just joking or are they sincere?". Irony provides a shield for bigots.

• Follow ALL the sitewide Content Policies.

Don't ask people to vote on items. Don't ask people to go to hate subreddits and dogpile comments on them.
We don't do those things - because they are violations of the content policies, and because they serve the goals of bigots.
We will ban accounts that do these things.

What does /AgainstHateSubreddits NOT do?

"When these people come for you, they cannot be reasoned with. When well-intentioned people fall for bad-faith tactics, bad-faith people continue to employ them."** -- Lindsay Ellis

• We DO NOT organise offsite. We do not, and never have had, a Discord for AHS.

We have a Slack channel, where we organise our moderation team and only our moderation team.
If someone tells you that they've seen an AHS Discord / IRC Channel / Pinterest / Tumblr / whatever - that person is lying to you to smear our moderators and users, and is probably a neoNazi. Those are not the first time they've tried to fake evidence of moderators being paedophiles, and it will not be the last time either.

• We DO NOT participate in posts / threads / comments in hate subreddits. We don't vote; We don't comment; We don't feed the trolls.

Engagement and recruitment is Priority #1 of bigots - they don't want to debate you sincerely -- they want you to get angry, and bring your friends, and have those friends bring their friends - so they get lots and lots of attention and an audience and a list of potential recruits. They want to steal time and peace of mind from us, divide us and fracture our united front. Don't fall for it.

• We DO NOT amplify the hate messages of the bigots.

Censor slurs in your posts and comments wherever possible. Use the NSFW tag on your posts if submitting material that is patently offensive, hateful, pornographic, unsuitable for a work environment, etc. Use an archive service to submit posts wherever possible to make it inconvenient to join the bigot's efforts.
If you are a bigot, and you want to participate here, you must do so in Good Faith -- if you come here to platform your bigotry, recruit, proselytise, or abuse people: you will be promptly banned. Your only reason to participate here is to help you find a way to get away from the people reinforcing your bigotry.

• We DO NOT Debate Economic Theory

There are other venues, of varying quality, and varying effectiveness, to recruit people to defend or critique capitalism / communism / barter / mutualism / welfare / Bitcoin / the Dahrendorf hypothesis / Bayesian regret. THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR THOSE.

• We DO NOT delete or retroactively radically edit comments.

That's Bad Faith.

• We are NOT your Personal Army.

If the members of one demographic are traditionally vilifying / vilified by another demographic, we will not "take sides" "for" the representatives of either demographic using their respective subreddits as proxies - No International Political Slapfighting.
We do make exceptions for subreddits, named for a demographic or international geographic compartment (i.e. country), that are clearly being operated to platform hatred. Those require substantial, objectively evaluatable evidence of a pattern of hatred, bigotry, harassment, or violence, and the misfeasance of the moderators of the subreddit. We do not want submissions of 4-month old comments by suspended users that never went live or which received no upvotes, in innocent / well-moderated subreddits.

• We DO NOT focus on "joke" or "troll" or "meme" subreddits -- unless they are effectively unmoderated and therefore serve as platforms and recruitment for hate movements. Hatred is independent of medium.

• We DO NOT accept posts about Child Sexual Exploitation material on Reddit.

Because of legal and ethical considerations, we do not allow the use of /AgainstHateSubreddits to direct attention to sexual or suggestive content involving minors on Reddit -- nor for making allegations that any content on Reddit is sexual or suggestive content involving minors.
Please report any content which you reasonably believe to be sexual or suggestive content involving minors using this link:
https://www.reddit.com/report?reason=its-sexual-or-suggestive-content-involving-minors
Please do not solicit other people to view such material, nor direct others as to where to locate it. That can be distribution of obscene material. It's also traumatic for people exposed to it. Don't share links to it with anyone but the Reddit admins, your attorney where applicable, and law enforcement!
You can also use the resources of the FBI via this webpage: https://www.fbi.gov/investigate/violent-crime/cac
and the US Department of Justice via this webpage: https://www.justice.gov/actioncentereport-crime#child
This has been our long-standing policy - we refuse to amplify child sexual exploitation.

• We DO NOT back down and we DO NOT compromise.

Bigots want to run Reddit "from the bottom", Mafia-style -- by spreading Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt.
They have a track record of smearing people, harassing people, trying to ruin people's lives, trying to run them off Reddit, mocking and ridiculing them, wasting people's time and resources, extorting them into compromising their community's identity and boundaries, falsely threatening vexatious legal action or account suspension / moderator privilege revocation as retaliation for banning bigots or removing posts and comments which compromise the integrity of a community or which violate a Content Policy. They maliciously spread misinformation, rumour, innuendo, propaganda, lies, and scams.

We give bigots NOTHING.

NOT. ONE. INCH.
