Bitcoin provider told me to find another provider to purchase Bitcoin from

I'm new to cryptocurrency but decided about three weeks ago to invest a small amount of money into Bitcoin for the hell of it. I did a bit of reading and decided I would try purchasing from a well known and highly rated Canadian provider of Bitcoin.
They requested that I verify who I am via a photo of myself and my ID. I submitted what they wanted and waited a few days before sending them a follow up email as I hadn't heard whether or not I had been approved.
They sent me an email requesting that I answer onboarding questions, one question asking me where I get the income to purchase cryptocurrency in the first place. Others included if I was being asked to buy crypto, what platform I was using, who was managing my investments, etc.
I reluctantly replied and mentioned I was uncomfortable answering their questions as they seemed unneccessary. I answered the questions but my answers were extremely vague and I did not go into great details. For instance, when answering the question about where my income is from I simply said, "I work". I mentioned they should contact me if there is any further problems with verification and if I'm not approved, why.
They sent me an email that simply says, "Please find another provider."
In not too sure how to feel about this. I mean, I understand that I might have been too vague but could they not just have explained that I need to answer the questions in more depth to be approved? Could they have not asked me to go into a Canada Post to be verified in person if they were have difficulties doing so through email? Also, is there a better way to do this? Shit, I just want to buy some Bitcoin, I don't want to be interviewed for a mortgage.
Anyways, you all seem super knowledgeable so I figured I'd get some input. It just totally threw me off I guess..
Edit:
I just have to say thank you so much to everyone who replied and gave me wonderful advise. You all helped me greatly and thanks to you all taking some time to help out someone new to this, I've obtained my first bit of crypto! I'm super excited! Thanks again everyone!! :)

[TASK] Looking for an honest individual that can become my (possibly permanent) Bitcoin provider.

So, heres the situation. Purchasing Bitcoins in Costa Rica is quite the challenge and I'm honestly tired of big fees and/or looking on every possible website just to read "we don't work on your territory yet, please subscribe for future news!"
The only idea I have come up with so far is to get to an arrangement with somebody that lives somewhere were fees are low, purchases are fast and the price of bitcoin is fair. Giving this particular person a little commission on every purchase I perform... and yes, purchasing bitcoins is something I plan on doing for a long, long time.
Make no mistake, I'm not new to the internet and I understand the risks of this possible deal. Because of this the only method to send you money I can accept at the moment is Paypal (bank transfers imply fees, which I'm looking to avoid to begin with)
Due to bitcoin fluctuation keep in mind that part of my intention is to purchase at pretty specific time frames, if you want to offer yourself for the job you just can't give me an "Ill be doing the purchase this weekend I promise"
Due to the nature of this position I may ask you to have direct communication with me via Whatsapp or another phone app.
If you have a better and much more secure way to send and receive funds for both parties then we can talk about it as well.
